From the Inquirer...
Carlos Slim, owner of the America Movil group has taken his place due to a spike increase of stocks of the group.
The score? Carlos: $67.8 billion, Gates: $59.2 billion.

Oh, I'm in the deep and murky now!!!
Sorry 'bout dat!! Been busy and not a lot of time for anything much...

Awww, I won't tell if you don't!
I think my next time killer will be rebuilding this site on another host... Ever since iPower made their "upgrades", anything running scripts has been brutally slow, plus I haven't gotten my Gallery back up yet...
I guess inexpensive, yet fast and reliable hosting may not go together, but I'm hoping this slowness is caused by their upgrading still going on. I'm just dreading the move as I know I will bork it up by forgetting to back something up first!
Pages render OK, but anything that runs a script on the server is very slooooooowwwwww. I'd give them an earful, but after 20 minutes on hold, I give up each time I call.
I see CP is also looking for better hosting.
I hope I can meander over and see what John has going on at NL some time this weekend.
Oh, thanks for coming around to this slow place!!!

good luck on your endeavors! All I have on my todo list is reading; well maybe trying to figure out the cages on the inside of my box... I am trying to figure out how to put removable drives on an old tower. I had to buy batteries for the flashlight first... now no more excuses.
Hope to see you at NL,
forums start slow until you get a core group of enthusiasts

they do start slow, and I am happy to see it slowly building. I hope I can in time see just what people need and tweak it to suit.
It is good seeing people on here that I've known or seen from some other forums!
It seems to be running a lot faster today than it was Saturday, I almost called them again... I hope once their upgrading is done, things will speed back up again. I'm not giving the Gallery high priority right now until I know things will be fast reliably.
Thanks for the best wishes! Nothing really major, just a bit of meandering of interests right now... Other things occupying my spare time than computers. Still running Gutsy on the HP here, and XP (still locked to it) on the other 2 computers.
Save batteries, get an LED flashlight!! They have come down in price and gotten brighter.

I'll check out the LED flashlights. I have two flashlights -- forever so I guess I kind of stopped thinking about it.
Computers... I got an external and want to install Zenwalk to boot from the usb on that external drive. I also got a second internal hard drive that I need to play with... but yes other things get in the way. Classes [night classes] started last week and I have five chapters to read. The first one put me to sleep for an hour. guess I needed a nap. Regular classes started two weeks ago, and we are preparing for the AIMS test-- state mandated standards test. Our kids generally do poorly-- yes that was well known prior to the designing of the tests. Low income, minority, special education, and second language learners do NOT perform well on standardized tests so yes let's make it mandatory to pass a standardized test to get your HS diploma... sigh. So work is busy too.
I guess I buy the computer things hoping to find time.
peace to you and all your loved ones

Sorry I didn't respond until now... I guess I need to check my email notifications as well.....
I love bootable USB!!!! It is totally cool being able to kep an OS on an external and boot from that.
I can relate to the standardized testing... a double edged sword if there ever was one!!!
I hope the nutty neighbors have calmed down!!!! Sheesh, I would hate to live next door to them!

Mom and bro went out spent a few minutes taking pictures of all the cameras; got in a verbal confrontation with them; and next day cameras are gone. They are still insane.
I am so glad to see the site back up and funning. Nothing worse than having to redo a site. At least for me it is since I still haven't gotten a handle on css. sigh one of these days.
I just spent the better part of two hours trim down my ubuntu. I am not liking gutsy any where near as much as I did feisty. I might reinstall edgy [don't think I ever got a feisty iso].
then again I might not :P it's sunday afterall

Glad to hear the cameras were taken down.
What don't you like about Gutsy? Just curious...can't wait for the next KDE to arrive as it is supposed to be super lightweight in demands.
CSS isn't hard, once you get a handle on it, it can be easier than using things like <FONT> tags, which are mostly depreciated, I think from what I read on the W3C site. I still use whatever is at hand...
I like CSS for changing fonts and other attributes for the whole site with one fell without having to edit <FONT> tags everywhere.

It seems to work OK for me, but maybe we aren't doing the same things with it. It still is faster than Windows, even giving Windows a head start...
The biggest issue I have is that Gutsy doesn't recognize my top panel and it puts icons high enough that they are partially hidden, but pulling at one makes them all drop into place... I dunno... (confused)

Mine sped up after I pulled some crap off that I wasn't using. Not as fast as feisty was though.
I have had issues with the desktop er, mobility... my top panel likes to jump down to the bottom; I don't even have to click on the panel sometimes just a desktop click will send it going. I haven't had problems with icons.
try <system> <preferences> <windows> themes is first in the tabs, go to the last tab [visual effects] I have mine set at normal, but I use a slightly larger font size so my icons appear small in the panels.
might work
it almost sounds like the panel is set odd have you looked at resetting in panel properties?
